Joyce works as a senior psychologist, university lecturer, and researcher in mental health. She is the founder and principal psychologist at Joyce Vromen Psychology, a practice specialising in neurodiversity assessments and supports. Joyce authors the Psychology Today blog Divergent minds: The assessment of neurodiversity Joyce has completed a PhD at the University of Queensland and master and bachelor degrees in psychology at the University of Amsterdam. Joyce has previously worked in private practice and also has 15+ years experience in mental health research across university, hospital, and community mental health settings. She has worked at the Queensland Brain Institute, Oxford university (UK), and New York University (USA), as well as in applied research settings at Autism Queensland and the John Radcliffe Hospital. Joyce also has extensive teaching experience in the tertiary education sector as a sessional lecturer.
